How to Choose a Rug for Your Living Room

     There are many rules of thumb to follow when deciding what size area rug to purchase for your living room. It is recommended that you leave approximately 18 inches of exposed floor space around the perimeter of your rug. 

      When it comes to area rugs,bigger can indeed be better. Larger rugs allow your room to maintain a coordinated aesthetic while an undersized rug can make the furnishings around it seem uncoordinated.                                                                                                                                 If you have purchased a 5' x 8’ rug it is recommended that you position all legs of the furniture off of the rug, for an 8' x 10´ you should place the front legs of your furniture on the outer edges of the rug and for a  9 x 12' all furniture should be placed directly on the rug to establish the aspect of your living room.
